Green party candidates in the Ottawa area running in the upcoming provincial election launched their campaign at the Rainbow Bistro bar in Ottawa Saturday night, promising sustainability and community engagement.

For the first time ever, the provincial party has a fulltime leader and full-time staff.

“It’s really apples and oranges for the party,” said Ottawa Centre candidate Kevin O’Donnell, comparing where the party is now to the last election four years ago.

The party members outlined its platform, a “fivepoint” plan focusing on health care, food, energy, jobs – specifically trade jobs through the green-building program – and government that is more accessible for people.
